Corpus Mobile   [2014-2015]
durational performance

Performance: Federica Dauri
Concept and Installation: Federica Dauri, Kiril Bikov

In Corpus Mobile Dauri’s body is laid bare, exposed beneath an array of 50 razor-sharp knives, each suspended a few millimeters above her skin.  This durational performance focuses on absolute stillness and concentration, as the body remains immobile throughout. The piece pushes the boundaries of physical endurance and mental resilience, as the body remains completely immobile throughout its duration. At its core, Corpus Mobile delves into themes of vulnerability and fortitude. The ever-present threat of the knives creates a palpable sense of tension, but it is within this stillness that Dauri engages in a deeper inquiry into the nature of silence, breath, and bodily limits. Every breath becomes an act of careful control, each subtle inhalation and exhalation a reminder of the fine line between control and chaos. Through this extreme immobility, the performance becomes a study of the human capacity to confront fear, anxiety, and the limits of self-mastery. Corpus Mobile invites both performer and audience into a heightened sensory awareness, where silence is not merely the absence of sound but a charged space filled with the tension of unspoken potential.
